Make golf your Major

If you are looking for a career in golf, be it to play on the Tour as a player, or at a Golf Club as a Club Manager; Golf Director; or Greenkeeper, the best place to start is the Golf Management Campus.

The Campus is based at Zwartkop Country Club and has all the facilities - an 18-Hole Golf Course; Gym; Driving Range; 3-Hole Chipping Course; Lecture Room; Golf Library;  Hair & Beauty Salon; Baldovino's Restaurant and optional accommodation within the Zwartkop Golf Estate.

The Golf Management Campus offers a 3-year internationally recognised PGA Diploma (National Diploma in Club Professional Golfing). This is the only Internationally recognized Golf Diploma in South Africa and South Africa is one of only 10 countriues in which this diploma is offered. The course is Cathseta approved through TGSE & endorsed by the PGA.

PGA Diploma students will also complete the CMASA (Club Management Association of SA) Introduction to Club Management, a 3-Year Course presented by CMASA, which covers all area’s of Club Management including the History and Organization of Clubs; Human Resources; Training; Financial Management; Leadership; Food & Beverage Service Operations; Facilities & Risk Management; Recreation and Sports Management.

They will also complete the PGA’s Greenkeeping 101 (presented by guest greenkeeper lecturers). This course covers Mowing Basics; Greens Maintenance; Fairways, Tees & Rough Maintenance; Cultural Practices; Irrigation; Bunker Maintenance and Course Set-up.

For students looking to prepare for a career as a Tour Player we offer the Game Improvement Programme (a full– or part-time). This programme includes Flightscope Swing Analysis, unlimited 1-on-1 lessons, weekly group sessions, sport psychology and fitness training sessions; membership at Zwartkop Country Club & the Zwartkop Gym; unlimited rounds of golf at Zwartkop (excluding any competition fees); unlimited range balls and Tournament Entry Fees into a limited number of local amateur tournaments (Pretoria & Johannesburg SAGA tournaments.)

It’s the quality of lecturers that puts the Golf Management Campus above the rest.

        · Dale Hayes and Dennis Bruyns - PGA Master Professionals

        · Elsabe Hefer - PGA Top 25 Teacher

        · Peter Matkovich  - Golf Course Architect

        · Paul Leishman – Respected Golf Club Manager

        · Mike Wallington – Greenkeeper

        · Greg Smith - Golf Equipment Technology Specialist

        · Theo Bezuidenhout Consulting – Sports Psychologists

To keep up with the latest advances in golf technology and to facilate paperless studies, our students are issued with tablets at the start of their course. These also allow for ease of access to their game statistics and their lesson reports, which are facilitated through the latest Flitescope Swing Video Analysis system.

One of the biggest advantages our students have is the access to on-the-job practical work experience within all departments of an operating golf club, and the access to experts within all area’s of the golf industry who are passionate about the game and their careers and who have a vested interest in assisting the students with job placement opportunities on completion of their studies.

If you would like to make golf your major, you should enrol at the Golf Management Campus.
